Do Van Chien officially named as VFF Central Committee President

VOV.VN - After receiving 100% of the votes, Do Van Chien, a member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), and Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) was officially elected to the role of President of the VFF Central Committee for the 2019 to 2024 term.

This comes after the VFF Central Committee convened its fourth conference on April 12 in Hanoi in order to elect various personnel to the Standing Committee, the Presidium, and the ninth VFF Central Committee.

During the event the conference officially elected Chien, a member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Party Delegation of the VFF, to the position of President of the VFF Central Committee for the 2019 to 2024 term.

Born on November 10, 1962, Chien is from the San Diu ethnic minority group. He has experience after holding various positions, including the role of chairman of the Tuyen Quang provincial People's Committee, secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee, member of the 13th National Assembly (NA), and Minister-Chairman of the NA Committee for Ethnic Affairs.

Speaking upon receiving the appointment decision, Chien thanked former VFF President Tran Thanh Man along with all other former leaders for their remarkable contributions to the process of both building and developing the VFF over the past nine decades.

Chien also issued a pledge to put his best efforts into continuing building the VFF into an ever-stronger organisation moving forward.
