Vietnam, Bulgaria mark 70 years of sound diplomatic ties

VOV.VN - The 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam Bulgaria was recently celebrated by the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association (VBFA) under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) in co-ordination with the Embassy of Bulgaria in Vietnam.

In her speech to mark the occasion, Nguyen Phuong Nga, chairwoman of the VUFO, applauded  the stable development of the time-honoured friendship and co-operation ties between the two nations across multiple fields. Indeed, Bulgaria became one of the first ten countries in the world to officially establish diplomatic ties with Vietnam.

Since first being launched, bilateral relations have been strengthened across multiple fields, including politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, defence, security, science, technology, education, training, culture, sports, and tourism, Nga stated.

Bulgaria was one of the leading EU countries to ratify the EU-Vietnam Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation (PCA), as well as accelerating the signing and ratification of the EU- Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), she said.

The Vietnamese diplomat used the occasion to underline the significance of strengthening bilateral co-operation between both sides whilst offering mutual support and co-ordination at multilateral forums. This can be done alongside solving global issues, especially in the context of complicated developments faced by the region and the wider world.
In response, Bulgarian Ambassador to Vietnam Marinela Petkova stated that recent decades have seen mutual ties strengthen incessantly for the purpose of benefitting the citizens of each nation.

Moving forward, both sides boast huge potential to develop an advanced, comprehensive, and multilateral co-operation relationship, the Bulgarian diplomat emphasised.

The two countries must find an agenda that stresses the promotion of people-to-people activities, cultural exchanges, and education co-operation, all of which are key areas in which to focus the enhancement of bilateral ties, she said.
To mark the occasion, the VBFA presented a number of prizes to those who had sent their writings and photos as part of the “Bulgaria memory” book, a publication that reflects diplomatic activities  between the two nations. In addition, it shows the deep sincere feelings and gratitude felt by Vietnamese people to Bulgaria who have worked, studied, and lived in the Eastern European nation.
