Vietnam desires to develop stronger ties with Cambodia

VOV.VN - Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong has reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to give top priority to consolidating and developing the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive  cooperation with Cambodia as well as between Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. 

The Party chief made the statement at a reception in Hanoi on August 10 for a delegation of Cambodian People’s Party (CPP)’s Central Inspection Commission led by Nay Pena, head of the Commission and First Vice President of the Senate.

The party leader said he believes that under the leadership of the CPP, the Senate, the National Assembly and the government, the Cambodian people will continue to gain more achievements in building a country of peace, independence, democracy, and social advances.

For his part, Nay Pena thanked Vietnam for its valuable support to Cambodia during the struggles for national liberation, helping Cambodian people escape from the Pol Pot genocidal regime, as well as the during the cause of national reconciliation, construction and defence. 

Cambodia will work hand in hand with Vietnam to bring the long-standing friendship and comprehensive cooperation to a new high, he said. 

Earlier, the Cambodian guests held talk with the Vietnamese Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission delegation led by Tran Quoc Vuong, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the Commission.

Both sides informed each other of their work and discussed a number of measures for future cooperation.
