116 more positive COVID-19 cases added to national tally at midday

VOV.VN - A further 116 fresh active COVID-19 cases, including one imported infection were confirmed by the Ministry of Health during an update at midday on June 30, thereby raising the total number of infections to 13,771 since the virus recurred in the nation two months ago.

The newly-detected domestic infections were recorded in 10 localities, with 63 coming in Ho Chi Minh City,  24 in  Binh Duong, 9 in Hung Yen , 8 in Bac Giang , 5 in Bac Ninh , 2 in Phu Yen, along with one each in Long An , Binh Dinh , Hai Phong and Bac Kan.

112 of the cases were recorded in quarantine sites or in areas currently under lockdown.

In Ho Chi Minh City, 54 cases came into contact with confirmed patients, whilst the remaining cases are linked to previous outbreaks and or under epidemiological investigation.

Furthermore, the cases detected in other provinces are either F1 contacts with confirmed patients or were detected in sealed off areas, with the individual cases having links to industrial parks.

The new cases thereby bring the national tally up to 16,623, with 1,791 imported cases and 14,832 locally-transmitted infections.

Moreover, June 29 also saw a total of 91,228 people vaccinated against COVID-19 across 26 provinces and cities nationwide.

In addition, 14 provinces have stayed free of COVID-19 for 14 consecutive days amid the fourth outbreak.

The death toll rose to 80 following the confirmation of four more fatalities relating to COVID-19 one day earlier.

Ho Chi Minh City continues to witness a daily increase of new local cases, whilst some other localities are focusing on improving their testing capacity to quickly trace infected cases in order to slow the spread of the disease among the wider community.
