3 COVID-19 suspect cases detected, northern border province on alert

VOV.VN - The administration of the north-western province of Dien Bien held an emergency meeting on Feb. 4 evening to discuss COVID-19 preventive measures after three suspect cases were detected in the locality.

Three local residents were diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus following the first test, reported the provincial Centre of Diseases Control, adding that they are now being placed in quarantine for additional COVID-19 tests to confirm the results.

They took a bus with 90 people on board running from Cam Giang district of Hai Duong province to Dien Bien.

Hai Duong is the country’s biggest coronavirus hotspot at present.

Chairing the emergency meeting, Nguyen Van Thang, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, asked relevant agencies to swiftly track down those who had come into close contact with the three suspect cases.

He also asked local media outlets to keep people fully up to date with epidemic preventive measures.

Vietnam has confirmed 373 COVID-19 cases since the virus recurred in late January 2021. The outbreak has been reported in 10 cities and provinces nationwide. Dien Bien is among 53 remaining localities with no cases.
