More than 500 Buddhist monks and nuns and nearly 1,000 followers from 53 provinces and cities gathered in Phap Lam pagoda in Da Nang city on April 14 to study and discuss the propagation of Buddhism.

The event was organised by the Executive Board of the Da Nang Buddhist Sangha and the Central Dharma Propagation Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS).

Prominent among many Buddhist dignitaries and leaders of Da Nang city at the opening ceremony were Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council; Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the VBS Executive Council.

The training course cum seminar focus on Dharma propagation amid integration and development with six topics for group discussions, including propagation of Buddha’s birth anniversary, propagation in association with charity, business, information technology and ethnic groups.

The five-day training course includes two parts, one for Buddhist monks and nuns and the other for Buddhist followers.

On this occasion, the organising board in cooperation with monks, nuns, followers and businesses presented 100 bicycles to poor students and 600 gifts, worth VND170 million, to poor people.
