VOV.VN - The first Hanoi Metro train to be used for by the Nhon-Hanoi railway station route has recently departed from France on its way to the capital city, with the shipment due to arrive in October.

According to the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board, the first train for the Hanoi urban metro line, departed from the French port of Dunkirk on September 2, with the shipment heading for the northern port city of Hai Phong

The train is first to be transported to Klang port in Malaysia on October 5, before arriving in Hai Phong on October 24. Upon arrival in the northern coastal city, the trains is to be transported to the Nhon depot and then transferred to the elevated section S1

France’s Geodis Projets SAS, a worldwide transport and logistics leader, has been given the responsibility of transporting the train

According to the overall design, the Nhon-Hanoi railway station route will feature 10 trains which have been manufactured by French joint venture Alstom-Thales-Colas Rail, each having four carriages with a total length of 80 metres. Each train is capable of carrying 944 passengers

The Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board says the transport of the first train has been delayed due to the impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic. The second train is to be transported to the capital in January 2021, and the last train due in June 2021

At present, the Nhon-Hanoi railway station route is under construction and has a total length of 12.5 km, including an 8.5 km elevated section and a 4 km underground section. Most notably, the elevated section is expected to be open to traffic by April 2021, while the entire route will be operational by December 2022
