COVID-19: 11 imported cases confirmed, six discharged on Apr.6
VOV.VN - As many as 11 people entering Vietnam were confirmed positive for the SARS-CoV-2-virus, raising the national tally of coronavirus infections to 2,648, the Ministry of Health reported on April 6.
Among the newly detected cases, there is an Indian expert and the remaining cases are all Vietnamese citizens, who entered the nation via Moc Bai international border gate in the southern province of Tay Ninh, and returned from the Philippines and Japan.
They are now being put into isolation to undergo COVID-19 treatment at local hospitals after they were confirmed to carry the virus.
Following the latest discovery, the overall number of imported cases rose to 1,045. The same day an additional six patients were released from hospital after making a full recovery from the virus, boosting total recoveries to 2,422 nationwide.
Of the total infections, 1,603 were domestic cases, including 910 recorded since the latest outbreak hit the northern province of Hai Duong in late January.
Meanwhile, more than 36,700 people are being quarantined for medical surveillance, while 70 cases have tested negative for the virus at least one.
According to the National Expanded Immunization Programme, nearly 53,000 frontline medical workers and members of community-based anti-COVID-19 groups were vaccinated against COVID-19 from March 8 to April 5.
The Ministry of Health has asked localities across the nation to compile a list of individuals prioritised for COVID-19 vaccinations as regulated by the Government.
The ten prioritized groups in the free vaccination programme include frontline medical staff, army and public security officers, diplomatic officials and their families who are about to be sent abroad, diplomats and members of UN agencies in Vietnam, teachers, aviation and transport staff, people suffering chronic diseases, people above 65 years of age, those living in pandemic-hit areas, poor people, and social policy beneficiaries.
