COVID-19: 20 more local infections confirmed in quarantine areas

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health (MoH) said on May 15 morning that an additional 20 people in quarantine areas have been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus during the six past hours.

Fifteen cases were recorded in Bac Giang province, a coronavirus hotspot close to Hanoi capital. They were closely linked to the coronavirus outbreaks at Van Trung and Quang Chau industrial parks.

Elsewhere, two cases were documented in Lang Son, one each in Hanoi, Vinh Phuc and Dak Lak.

Vietnam has detected 124 new community infections during the past 24 hours, mostly in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces.

Industrial parks in these two localities are new coronavirus hotspots in the country where dozens of new cases have been infected with the virus.

At a recent online meeting in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam requested localities, especially Da nang, Bac Giang and Bac Ninh, increase testing capacity to halt the spread of the virus at industrial parks.

The newly detected cases raised the total number of confirmed infections in Vietnam to 806 cases following the resurgence of the virus on April 28.
