COVID-19: An imported case from Angola raises VN tally to 1,173
VOV.VN - A Vietnamese citizen returning from Angola has been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing Vietnam’s tally of coronavirus infections to 1,173, the Ministry of Health said on October 28.
The 43-year-old man, a resident of Ha Tinh province, returned to Vietnam from Angola on board flight VN8 on October 20. He was quarantined at a military camp in Bac Ninh shortly after landing at Van Don International Airport, Quang Ninh province, in northern Vietnam.
He tested positive on October 27 and is now receiving treatment at the Bac Ninh provincial General Hospital.
Earlier, 13 COVID-19 cases had been confirmed on the same flight, according to the Ministry of Health.
As of 18.00hrs October 28 Vietnam has recorded a total of 1,173 locally transmitted and imported coronavirus cases. As many as 1,062 patients have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospital.
The death toll caused by the disease and related illnesses remains unchanged at 35.
By October 28 the country has gone through 56 consecutive days without a single new community infection.
