COVID-19: Two Indian experts, four Vietnamese returnees detected

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health reported the detection of six additional imported cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on April 19 afternoon, including two Indian experts and four Vietnamese returnees from the Republic of Korea, Japan and the US.

With the latest addition, the overall national infection tally amounted to 2,781, with 1,570 being local infections.

Of the total figure, 2,475 cases have been declared free from the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Among the country’s active patients, a total of 45 have tested negative for the virus at least once, with many testing negative multiple times.

Around 40,150 people who came into close contact with COVID-19 patients or who arrived from pandemic-hit areas have been placed into quarantine across the country in order to undergo medical monitoring.

Among patients still receiving treatment, a total of 45 have tested negative for COVID-19 once, with the majority producing several negative results.

The Ministry said an additional 10,415 people across 13 cities and provinces received the COVID-19 vaccine between April 12 and April 18, thereby bringing the total number of vaccinated individuals to 79,182.

Two days earlier Vinh Long province received 163 citizens who had recently returned from the Republic of Korea, all of whom tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus for the first time.

Since the latest outbreak of the virus in late January, Vinh Long province has recorded a total of seven positive cases of COVID-19, all of whom had returned from abroad and have since been cured. Indeed, no new local infections have been detected among the community so far.
