VOV.VN - A total of 14 people have been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus during the past 24 hours in Vietnam, bringing the national tally of coronavirus infections to 2,617, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

All these patients are Vietnamese who entered the country through either Can Tho International Airport or Ha Tien International Border Gate in the south, with 13 returning from the Philippines.

They were all placed in quarantine upon their arrival, and they all tested positive during their stay in quarantine facilities, thus posing no risk to the community, said the MoH in its 18.00hrs update on April 1.

Vietnam has so far recorded 2,617 coronavirus patients, of whom 2,359 have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery.

Of the active cases, 68 have tested negative at least once.

In another development, a batch of more than 800,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine sponsored by COVAX Facility arrived in Hanoi on April 1 for the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

Approximately 50,000 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19, using the AstraZeneca vaccine, since the campaign was launched on March 3.
