COVID-19: Vietnam detects 15 more new community cases in Hanoi, Bac Ninh

VOV.VN - The Health Ministry reported a further 15 fresh locally-infected cases on the morning of May 8, with one in capital Hanoi and 14 in the northern province of Bac Ninh, taking the infection tally in the latest wave of ongoing outbreak to 176.

All the new cases were associated with confirmed coronavirus patients and are now receiving treatment at local hospitals.

A total of 2,560 coronavirus patients have fully recovered from the virus, and 74 case receiving treatment have tested negative for the coronavirus at least one time or more.

Meanwhile, 40,736 people are being quarantined across the country after having close contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients or returning home from pandemic-hit regions.

The coronavirus has hit 19 cities and provinces throughout the nation with a total of 176 local transmissions recorded since April 27.

One day earlier the Ministry of Health has sent an official dispatch to chairpersons of provincial/municipal People's Committees,  heads of provincial/municipal Departments of Health and medical facilities nationwide, asking them to raise the alert against the COVID-19 pandemic to the highest level and actively conduct COVID-19 testing at hospitals.

The nation's infection tally now stands at 3,152, including 2,560 recoveries, and 1,746 community cases.

According to the Expanded National Immunization Programme, as many as 801,957 frontline healthcare workers along with members of community-based anti-COVID-19 groups have been injected with the COVID-19 vaccine, with a total of 54,130 being inoculated in 49 provinces and cities on May 7.
