Dong Nai reports second death from dengue fever

Soon after the patient died, the centre coordinated with Tam Hiem medical centre to spray chemicals around the victim’s houses to prevent the spread of the disease while providing local residents with information about preventive measures and limiting their access to the disease-hit areas.

Mr Binh said Tam Hiep is home to a large number of workers and many guesthouses. Despite great efforts to prevent the spread of dengue fever, it is considered a hotspot with a high density of mosquitoes and other insects.

According to statistics from the provincial Preventive Medicine Centre, the province has reported more than 3,000 cases of dengue fever this year, with 2 fatalities, down 20% against the same period last year. With around 1,000 cases, Bien Hoa city has the highest dengue fever infection rates in Dong Nai province.
