Eight Vietnamese returnees from Japan infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus

VOV.VN - The national tally of coronavirus infections rose to 2,865 after a further eight Vietnamese returnees from Japan were found to be positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the Ministry of Health said on April 28 afternoon.

All the latest patients are now in quarantine for COVID-19 treatment at local hospitals.

Among active patients, a total of 48 patients have tested negative for the virus, with most of them giving negative results for many times.

As many as 38,520 people are being isolated for medical observation across the nation after coming into contact with infected people or returning the nation from pandemic-hit regions.

A total of 2,516 have fully recovered from the coronavirus, while fatality count remains at 35.

In the face of possible coronavirus outbreaks, the aviation sector has tightened pandemic prevention measures ahead of the upcoming holiday.

A representative from Noi Bai Airport said the northern airport has worked alongside carriers and ground units to seek an agreement on measures to control health declarations and deploy human resources for the task.

In practice, this will see waiting areas, internet-connected computers, and support teams put in place in order to help passengers finalize their declarations.

At Tan Son Nhat Airport, additional security scanners have been added in an effort to deal with issues relating to overcrowding.

Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan has recently signed a dispatch for the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), with carriers Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Pacific Airlines, and Bamboo Airway now moving to enhance pandemic prevention measures put in place at airports.

Travel demand throughout the public holiday is expected to increase significantly, with travel companies saying that up to 60% of tours have been booked for the four-day holiday. Due to this, tourists will mostly take short-distance trips and make brief stays.
