FAO helps Vietnam build new rural areas

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) will help Vietnam implement the national target program on building new rural areas in the 2012-2013 period.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) said the project will be carried out in Hanoi at a cost of US$433,000, of which US$397,000 will come from FAO.

The project aims to ensure sustainable growth and narrow the development gap between urban and rural area.

MARD said FAO experts will provide on-the job or distance learning prorgammes for local staff to improve their skills in strategic planning, financial management, public-private partnership and marketing.
