Former Director General of PVEP arrested

The Investigation Police Agency under the Ministry of Public Security has issued decisions on prosecuting and detaining Do Van Khanh, former Director General of the PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP).

In an announcement on December 18, the ministry said during investigations, the investigation police agency concluded that during 2012-2014, Do Van Khanh had abused his position as PVEP Director General to receive extra interest rate payment from OceanBank and appropriate assets.

The agency launched criminal proceedings of the case on September 13, 2017.

On December 17, 2018, the agency issued decisions on prosecuting and detaining Do Van Khanh on the charge of abusing position and power to appropriate assets under Article 355 of the 2015 Penal Code. The decisions were approved the same day by the Supreme People’s Procuracy.

The investigation police agency is expanding investigation into the case.
