Hai Duong hotspot confirms 16 more COVID-19 cases

VOV.VN - Hai Duong province, the country’s biggest coronavirus hotspot and a gateway to Hanoi capital, has confirmed an additional 16 locally transmitted cases by noon February 3.

Six of the new cases live in Cam Giang district and three of them are members of a family, said Pham Duy Tuyen, Director of the provincial Centre of Diseases Control, adding they had come into close contact with the district’s first COVID-19 patient.

Nine other cases have been detected in Chi Linh City which is under the ongoing social distancing order after the virus recurred there on January 28.

The last case has been confirmed in Kinh Mon district.

Tuyen said the number of infections is expected to rise in the coming days. Relevant agencies are stepping up contact tracing to early detect and quarantine suspect cases.

Hai Duong has so far recorded a total of 242 locally transmitted infections since the emergence of the virus in Chi Linh city a week ago.

The virus has spread to 10 cities and provinces across the country, with more than 300 confirmed cases.
