Tran Truong Son, president of the society, said that the month is held to call for all organisations and individuals to contribute to humanitarian activities so as to assist vulnerable groups in the city and surrounding localities.

Humanitarian activities implemented throughout the month include promoting blood donation; building houses for the poor, roads and bridges in rural areas, and offering free health check-ups and treatment for residents in far-flung areas.

The city expects to collect 91,000 blood bags and mobilize over 50 billion VND (2.1 million USD) from organisations, enterprises and individuals for humanitarian activities.
