HCM City leader greets Global Summit of Women President
VOV.VN - Vice Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Vo Thi Dung on September 27 hosted a reception for visiting President of the Global Summit of Women (GSW) Irene Nativida.
She hailed Irene Natividad’s role in promoting gender equality and women’s position in modern society while expressed her wish that the GSW in 2018 will be successful and serve as an important forum to connect women around the world.
Ho Chi Minh City women have played an increasingly considerable role in socio-economic activities and greater engagement in politics with more women holding important position in the administration or becoming successful entrepreneurs.
Irene Natividad, in turn, told his host that women are the key to deal with many outstanding issues and underlined the need to bolster cross-border cooperation to achieve gender equality and uphold values of women in the modern world.
She glowingly spoke of HCM City’s efforts to stimulate innovation and enhance women’s role in the city’s dynamic development and used the occasion to invite Dung to attend the GSW 2018 in Australia to share experience with foreign female leaders in promoting gender equality.
After her working trip to Ho Chi Minh City, the GSW President is scheduled to attend the ongoing second APEC Policy Partnership on Women and the Economy (PPWE 2) in the central city of Hue.
