Hong Kong music app to light up Vietnamese youth

PCCW Media Group from Hong Kong is ramping up its presence in the region with the launch of the MOOV music app, in partnership with telecommunications services provider Vietnamobile.

The MOOV app is available for download via the App Store on iOS and the Google Play Store on Android. Subscribers of Vietnamobile’s new Pizza Sim in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Danang can enjoy MOOV for three months for free.

MOOV offers Vpop, Kpop, Hong Kong Canto pop, and US & UK party anthems. The most innovative feature is Lyricsnap!, which allows users to add their favourite lyrics to their photos and share them on social media.

It also offers some benefits, privileges, and discounts at selected cafes and restaurants, karaoke bars, and retail outlets nationwide.

Besides, MOOV offers online-to-offline (O2O) music experience to subscribers. From late September till October, Vietnamobile and MOOV will organise music gigs in 40 universities across Vietnam.

“MOOV’s debut in Vietnam is one more step in PCCW Media’s strategy to expand its digital media services in the regional entertainment industry,” said Janice Lee, managing director of PCCW Media Group.

Kenny Koo, chief commercial officer of Vietnamobile, said the cooperation with MOOV is well aligned with the network operator’s focus on young customers. “With the MOOV app, we hope young customers will love us more and stay with us for a long time,” he said.

PCCW Media operates pay-TV services in Hong Kong under the Now TV brand, delivering both self-produced and licensed content.

It is also engaged in the provision of over-the-top (OTT) video services through its Viu brand in Hong Kong and the region.
