Hundreds join walk for disabled in Hanoi

(VOV) -More than 1,500 hundred turned out for a walk-a-thon around Hoan Kiem Lake and Ly Thai To flower garden in the capital city on the morning of November 29 to raise public awareness of the plight of people with disabilities.

Speaking at the event, National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said over past decades the Party and State have strived to create the best possible conditions for those with disabilities to lead active lives and become contributing members of society.

Ngan affirmed the Party and State will continue to provide assistance ensuring the rights of the disabled to boost their participation in social affairs in the coming time.

Chairman of the Asia Pacific Disability Forum Kyung Seok Park in turn said it was a great honour for him to join the procession and he expressed his confidence in the Vietnam Party and State to assist the disabled fully integrate into society.

The walk-a-thon themed ‘for a world fit for the disabled’ is a forerunner event to the upcoming celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, December 3.
