The President of Vietnam’s General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), Dang Ngoc Tung, had an informal meeting with the Deputy Director General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Guy Ryder, in Hanoi on February 23.
At the meeting, they discussed a number of labour and trade union issues.

Ryder spoke highly of the time he spent as Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation, adding that he will be standing as a candidate in the upcoming election for the Director General of the ILO.

Tung said he believes that Ryder will win the support of many other trade unions from a range of countries as he has an extensive knowledge and experience in international trade union affairs and will do his utmost to contribute to the ILO in the future.

As part of his visit to Vietnam, Ryder will also meet with representatives from several of Vietnam’s state agencies.
