After years of crafting and positioning, the largest jade statue of Buddha in Vietnam has officially been unveiled at the Truc Lam Tay Thien Zen Monastery in Tam Dao district, the northern province of Vinh Phuc.

The 31-tonne statue is 3.45 metres high, and underlines the Vietnamese people’s soul, spirit and love for peace.

Work on a 49-metre statue of Buddha, “Peaceful nation, happy people” made of granite was also inaugurated to mark the occasion.
