The Netherlands Leprosy Relief has joined the Sai Gon-Hanoi Eye Hospital to provide free-of-charge eye surgery to 100 lepers of the Van Mon Leprosy and Dermatology Hospital in the Red river delta province of Thai Binh.

This is the fourth time the Dutch non-governmental organisation and the Sai Gon-Hanoi Eye Hospital have provided such operations.

The General Hospital of Binh Phuoc province has spent more than VND800 million on buying two dialysis machines.

The sum was part of its EUR2.3 million investment programme to buy a Citi scanner, a colour Doppler, phacoemulsification and dialysis machines and other modern medical facilities.

After one month of operation, the two dialysis machines have provided treatment to 60 haemodialysis patients and are expected to serve six patients per day.
