MoET honours Intel ISEF 2015 winners

(VOV) - Vietnamese students Nguyen Minh Quang and Tran Van Anh, who received awards this year at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in Pittsburgh the US, were guests of honour at a reception hosted by the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET).

The two students hail from the High School for Gifted Students under the management of the Vietnam National University-Hanoi. Their winning project was dedicated to screening bad strains of bacteria from shrimp to improve their quality and quantity.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Thi Nghia, deputy minister of the MoET, said the competition was the largest scientific competition of its kind and featured approximately 1,700 young budding scientists from more than 75 countries.

“The quality of Vietnamese participants has grown year over year and this year’s awards demonstrate that they are among the best globally,” Nghia said.

Intel ISEF honours the world's most promising young scientists and inventors. Finalists are selected annually from hundreds of affiliated scientific fairs.
