PM directs pre-Tet price stabilisation, security maintenance

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued a directive ordering relevant agencies to enhance management to stablise the prices of essential goods and to ensure social security during Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.

The PM asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Ministry of Finance to closely monitor the market, especially essential goods.

He told the Ministry of Industry and Trade to ensure adequate supplies of essential goods nationwide and to help local producers expand production and distribution and encourage them to play a role in price stabilisation.

The ministry was also requested to tighten control of market prices and punish trade fraud, price speculation, smuggling and breaches of food safety and food hygiene regulations.

The Ministry of Finance must strictly handle price-related violations and prevent tax invasion and smuggling of high-demand products for the holiday season such as firecrackers, tobacco, alcohol, poultry and food, he said.

The PM assigned the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to support people who rendered services to the nation, the poor, children with difficult circumstances, ethnic minority people and other welfare beneficiaries ahead of Tet. The ministry must also take measures to prevent labour disputes, particularly in factories, industrial parks and export processing zones.

He tasked the Ministry of Health to strengthen preventive healthcare and food safety management and prevent smuggling of food with no clear origin and to intensify inspections of restaurants and food processing establishments.

The Ministry of Transport must work to meet year-end holiday travel demand, reduce road accidents and enhance control of public listing of bus and train fares, while the Ministry of Public Security was asked to combat crimes, especially the illegal trading of firecrackers during the Tet holiday.
