UN Day of Vesak 2019 closes in Ha Nam province

VOV.VN - The 16th UN Day of Vesak 2019 came to an end at Tam Chuc pagoda in the northern province of Ha Nam on May 14, leaving a positive impression on worshippers from around the world.

A range of delegates were in attendance at the closing ceremony, including members of the Vietnamese Party, State, Government, and foreign dignitaries.
2019 marked the third time that the UN’s commemoration of Vesak has been held in Vietnam. Previous occasions have seen the event take place in Hanoi in 2008 and the northern province of Ninh Binh in 2014.
Chairman of the National Council (Upper House) of Bhutan Tashi Dorji is  present at the event.

The event was broadcast live throughout the country on Vietnam Television’s VTV1.
The UN Day of Vesak 2019 ends with a reading from the Ha Nam Declaration, a statement that promotes world peace.
 
 
Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, deputy head of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee, gives an address at the ceremony.
Nguyen Xuan Dong, chairman of the Ha Nam provincial People’s Committee, says Ha Nam province should be proud of hosting the UN Day of Vesak 2019, thus having greatly contributed to boosting cross-cultural exchanges and friendship among global friends.
