Vietnam hands over 17 illegal entrants to China
VOV.VN - Border forces in Ha Giang province handed over 17 Chinese nationals on September 16 to Chinese police after they had illegally entered Vietnam.
This comes after officers guarding the Lung Cu Border Checkpoint discovered 17 Chinese citizens and four Vietnamese people on August 31 at a border area in Ma Le commune of Dong Van district as they were attempting to illegally exit Vietnam into China.
Once under questioning at the police station, the suspects confessed that they had been brought into Vietnam by several Chinese citizens and Vietnamese accomplices. When they had detected the presence of the police, they then decided to hire four local people in order to help them illegally return to China, although their attempt failed.
Upon their arrest, all of the suspects underwent a medical check-up before being immediately placed into quarantine as part of procedures aimed at preventing the potential spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Following this, each of the 17 Chinese citizens were handed over to the relevant Chinese authorities.
