Positive outlook continues for auto industry

(VOV) - Sales of cars and light duty trucks are likely to remain brisk in the final quarter of the year against the backdrop of rising imports by automotive dealers.

In the eight months leading up to September, imports shot up 100% in volume and 132% in value to 74,000 new vehicles at US$1.9 billion, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Dealerships imported 9,000 autos and light duty trucks at roughly US$194 million in August alone the GSO reported— an ominous sign for the market hinting that they see continued economic growth for the industry.
