VOV.VN - As many as 410 businesses from 15 countries and territories globally are displaying their wares across 380 booths at the 31st Vietnam International Trade Fair known as VIETNAM EXPO 2022, which is underway from April 13 to April 16 at Hanoi International Exhibition Center (IEC).

The one-month event is running with the theme of “Step together in Digitized world” and is being held on the DECOBIZ trade promotion platform with the ultimate aim of offering great trade and investment opportunities

Following a long period of being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam Expo 2022 represents the first fair to welcome local and foreign businesses alongside international buyers. The highlight of the occasion is the participation of four major industries, including national brands and exports; machinery –supporting Industries; digital solutions & e-commerce; and food and beverage.

Vietnam Expo 2022 performs the function as a business matching forum as for both local and foreign partners, including remote booths pavilions, online business-to-business (B2B) at booths; and a virtual edition of Vietnam Expo on Decobiz digital platform that will add more effects to the event.

Most notably, Vietnam Expo 2022 gave a special welcome to representation of the Republic of Korea (RoK) as the Guest of Honor Country aimed at bringing a range of potential and practical business opportunities via co-operation and trade promotion schemes between Vietnamese and Korean enterprises.

The event sees the consecutive participation of the Korean Trade Promotion and Investment in Hanoi (KOTRA) through a series of initiatives aimed at connecting investments, trade between RoK, Vietnam, and East Asian countries, including online and offline business matching at Vietnam Expo.

Furthermore, 2022 represents a significant milestone as it is the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between both sides after they were first established in 1992, adding fresh impetus to enhancing bilateral relationship in line with the common orientation. This was set out by both nations toward elevating the relationship framework to a comprehensive strategic co-operative partnership.

Elsewhere, Belarus, a special guest country at Vietnam Expo, featured pavilions representing potential exports of Belarus, including oil and gas; machines; research and development; medical supplies; and food and beverage.

For the first time, the interconnected industry display area, aimed specifically at foreign buyers, FDI businesses and local export companies, will combine 30 complementary industries companies and those that stand alongside automation and digital solutions providers in production and manufacturing. This is in addition to industrial park pavilions such as VSPI Nghe an, VSIP Hai Phong, and VSIP Bac Ninh.

The “Invest in Vietnam” pavilion is another central area that focuses on investment and development of important industries in compliance with local development goals.

Vu Ba Phu, head of the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), said that the construction of the pavilion represents a practical activity which can promote investment and development of key local industries associated with the economic development orientation of  localities nationwide.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of Vietnam Expo 2022, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed that last year can be viewed as an unprecedented challenging time for all countries globally, including Vietnam, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the nation has gradually overcome difficulties and challenges, flexibly realising the "dual goal" of ensuring effective pandemic prevention and control and socio-economic recovery and development.

In line with this, the country’s GDP grew by 2.58% last year, with macro-economic stability and major balances of the economy being ensured. Industrial production continued to expand and achieved very positive results, especially in the processing and manufacturing sector. Imports and exports enjoyed record growth of US$670 billion, putting the nation among the group of 20 leading economies in terms of international trade.

According to the Organization Board, within the framework of the fair, there are also important forums, conferences, and seminars being held to boost trade connectivity by industries and export market areas. The primary purpose of this is to support businesses to have wider access to domestic and foreign partners, thereby improving the overall efficiency of trade promotion activities of local enterprises.

Vietnam Expo has been an annual event since its first show back in 1991. The past three decades has witnessed the organisation board’s great endeavors to make Vietnam Expo one of the most large-scale trade promotion activities. This not only plays a vital role in the national industry and trade sectors but also gains a well-deserved reputation among international friends and local enterprises.

The annual trade event has therefore brought about economic values, as well as practical opportunities to help Vietnamese firms increase their exports, develop the domestic market, and improve their capacity to engage in the global value chain. It will also serve to actively contribute to the implementation of the Government's commitment on international economic integration, Minister Dien emphasized.
