President Sang greets Angolan Interior Minister

(VOV) - President Truong Tan Sang has suggested Vietnam and Angola should expand cooperation in various fields including economics, trade, and investment, and organize an intergovernmental committee meeting soon.

At a reception for Angolan Interior Minister Angelo de Barros Tavares in Hanoi on October 21, President Sang described his visit as a contribution to deepening the inherent traditional friendship between the two countries and welcomed the working results with Vietnam Ministry of Public Security.

He asked the Angolan government to assist Vietnamese people living in Angola in every possible way and support each other at international forums. He also wished Angola to make great strides in its reconstruction and development in the future.

Minister Tavares, in turn, briefed President Sang on the results of his meeting with Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang, in which both sides shared experiences in security personnel training and devised bilateral cooperation strategy in the long run.

On the occasion, the Angolan Interior Minister also thanked Vietnam for supporting his nation’s candidacy as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

Receiving the Angolan Minister earlier on the same day, Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang, commended the Angolan delegation’s visit as a milestone in the growing bilateral cooperation in preventing crime and ensuring security and order in each country, thus deepening the traditional friendship between the two countries.

For his part, the Angolan minister congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic achievements over the past years and expressed his desire for fruitful cooperation in the interests of the two peoples.

Both sides also compared notes on regional and international security-related issues focusing on human trafficking, drug and high-tech crimes, and those involving the two countries’ citizens.

They concurred to intensify delegation exchange to further share information and experience in crime prevention and investigation.

The two ministers set their sights on increased cooperation in training personnel and protecting representative agencies and the legitimate rights and interests of their citizens in the other nation.

On behalf of the Vietnamese and Angolan Governments, the two ministers inked an agreement on cooperation in public security and order.
