Vietnamese, Lao young military officers foster partnership

Young military officers of Vietnam and Laos met in Hanoi on June 12 at a seminar to seek measures to strengthen their all-round cooperation for maintaining and developing the relationship between the two countries and militaries.

Addressing the event, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Viet Nang, deputy head of the Military Youth Board under the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army highlighted the special ties between Vietnam and Laos, which were founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane and developed by generations.

He noted that military partnership between the two countries have been promoted both bilaterally and multilaterally, with regular delegation exchanges and dialogues.

Defence partnership has been a key pillar in the Vietnam-Laos relations, he said, adding that the two sides have organised exchanges between young officers with fruitful outcomes, along with training courses and experience sharing.

For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Amphone Soukvixay, head of the Lao delegation, stressed the need for young officers of both sides to increase exchanges, thus fostering the special ties between the two countries and militaries.

He highly valued the support of the Vietnam People’s Army to Laos in training young officers, infrastructure constructions and other aspects.

At the seminar, the young officers shared effective ways and models that they have applied to reinforce their partnership.
