She said Vietnam hopes that relations between Russia and the US will grow steadily, positively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the world.

Also at the press briefing, the spokesperson responded to reporters’ questions about the possibility of expanding the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is doubling efforts to finalize all required papers and to submit the deal to the National Assembly for ratification in the legislature’s session later this year, she said.

“The CPTPP will take effect 60 days after at least 6 member countries finish national ratification procedures. Vietnam and other members are finalizing procedures in line with each country’s law to soon bring it into play to step up cooperation for mutual benefits and regional economic growth. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is scheduled to submit the dossier to the National Assembly’s meeting later this year,” Hang said.

The CPTPP is an open agreement allowing other countries to join after the pact comes into force if they accept its principles, she noted.
