The 13th National Assembly concluded its first session in Hanoi on August 6 with a spirit of democracy and a high sense of responsibility.

Addressing the closing ceremony, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said that 500 NA deputies representing voters nationwide breathed new life into the first session of the 13th National Assembly with brainpower, faith, and prospects for changes in the new tenure.

The NA expressed its hope that the newly-elected leaders will fulfill their tasks successfully and deserve the trust of the NA and the people.

Chairman Hung also emphasized the need to implement socio-economic development plans and the State budget in the first half of the year, in addition to measures for the remaining months of this year.

The NA affirmed the need for a high consensus on drastic measures to work towards the goals of curbing inflation, stabilizing the macro economy and ensuring social welfare to fulfill the tasks for 2011 and give fresh impetus to maintaining sustainable development in the future.

Mr Hung also asked NA deputies to report the results of the session to voters across the country, stay in touch with voters, resolve people’s complaints and petitions, and encourage people to follow the Party and State’s guidelines.

NA Chairman Hung also called on people and soldiers at home and abroad to maintain their patriotic spirit, strengthen national solidarity, and promote internal strength and international cooperation in order to successfully implement the resolution set by the 11th National Party Congress for a prosperous, democratic and civilized nation.
