The Swedish government will continue to help the Ministry of Information and Communications in skills training for Vietnamese journalists during 2010-2013.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Hanoi on September 7.

The Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Do Quy Doan said the signing of the agreement follows the two governments’ cooperation in media skills training to meet the people’s increasing demand for news.

The Swedish government has provided support to the information and communications sector for more than 10 years through the Vietnam media improvement project.

With this valuable assistance, the ministry has helped refresher training courses for about 5,000 media workers from all kinds of press, including senior officials of media agencies, reporters, sub-editors, as well as lecturers and interpreters.

Seven media guide books have also been published with Swedish assistance.
