Australia’s Northern Territory Minister visits Vietnam

(VOV) - Australia considers Vietnam an important partner in Asia, Adam Giles, Chief Minister of the Northern Territory told PM Nguyen Tan Dung in Hanoi on October 28.

Australia wants to boost cooperation with Vietnam, especially in economics, trade, investment, mineral ore exploration, energy, and food processing, the visiting Minister said.

He proposed Vietnam create conditions for businesses from the Northern Territory to operate efficiently in the country.

He also pledged to support Vietnamese businesses in exploring cooperation opportunities in Australia, for mutual benefit.

The Chief Minister informed PM Dung about the stable lives of Vietnamese nationals in the Northern Territory, saying they abide by the local legal system and make a considerable contribution to the country of their residence.

For his part, PM Dung affirmed Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening multifaceted cooperation with Australia.

He noted both countries have great potential for stronger cooperation, and hoped both sides increase delegation exchanges to enhance economic, trade and investment ties.

Vietnam will create favourable conditions for Australian companies to do long-term business in the country, Dung assured Giles.

He proposed Vietnam and Australia further their cooperation in education-training, science-technology, employment, tourism, security and national defence.

He asked Australia to provide continued official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam and support the Vietnamese community in the country.
