NA Chairwoman meets Vietnam Embassy staff in Australia

VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi  Kim Ngan has praised embassy staff and Vietnamese nationals in Australia for their great contribution to the Vietnam-Australia relationship.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on November 29 visited the Vietnamese Embassy as part of her ongoing trip to Australia.

She attributed the improved relationship between the two countries in recent years to the efforts of the Embassy, businesses, and overseas Vietnamese. She said Vietnam’s policy of national unity has offered favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to stabilize their lives and integrate in to the local community while preserving their traditional identity.

She urged them to teach their children Vietnamese as an important way to preserve national culture.

Vietnamese community representatives suggested that more incentive policies should be adopted to create favourable conditions for scientists of Vietnamese origin to do scientific research and engage in consultations and policy making toward building a research center of the two countries.

In addition, the government should make a breakthrough in salary reform to attract more students returning home for long-term employment, they noted.

The same day, she observed a hearing of Australia’s Upper House at the invitation of the Speaker of the Australian Parliament.
