VOV boosts cooperation with ABC, RNZ

(VOV) - Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) has made a firm commitment to fostering cooperation with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and Radio New Zealand (RNZ) in various fields.

A VOV delegation led by Director General Nguyen Dang Tien paid a working visit to the two media agencies – ABC in Sydney and RNZ in Wellington – from December 8 to 14 to review the implementation of cooperative programmes in recent years and discuss measures for closer ties in the future.

During a working session with CEO of ABC International, Lynley Marshall and ABC Radio’s head of industry policy and strategy, Jane Connors, VOV delegates focused their discussions on digital broadcasting standard.

VOV guests were keen on learning experience from ABC, which is known as a leading agency in term of Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB+) application. VOV expects to implement the digitalization process from now to 2020 following the Prime Minister’s instructions.

In recent years, VOV and ABC have strengthened cooperation and promoted exchange in line with their signed agreements. Accordingly, ABC has provided technical assistance to VOV, especially in the field of multi-media broadcasting. VOV has also coordinated with ABC colleagues in the production of TV and radio programmes.

Established in 1932, ABC is now one of the leading public broadcasters in Australia.

While meeting with RNZ leaders, VOV delegates agreed to promote the exchange of broadcasting programmes to introduce culture and history and increase mutual understanding between Vietnam and New Zealand.

Next year, the two countries will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations. VOV and RNZ plan to produce joint broadcasting programmes to mark the significant event.

Set up in 1925, RNZ has five major channels and an online newspaper. The Radio is taking the lead in the radio broadcasting sector of New Zealand.

During their stay in Wellington, the VOV delegation visited and had a working session with the Vietnamese Embassy in New Zealand.
