Italian jazz artists to perform in Vietnam

(VOV) - Internationally renowned Italian jazz artists Giuliana Soscia and Pino Jodice Duet will perform alongside famous Vietnamese saxophonist Quyen Thien Dac in a concert at Hanoi Opera House on December 10. 

The duo was founded in 2006 and has toured extensively, gracing the stages of the world’s prestigious jazz and music festivals.

Giuliana Soscia is an accordionist, pianist, and composer. She was awarded the 2001 “Sonerfisa” Trophy in Castelfidardo for Best Italian Accordionist, and was presented with the 2005 “XXXV European Personality Prize” at the Capitol in Rome.

Soscia also became the first accordionist to feature in the exclusive Lucca Jazz Festival.

Pino Jodice is currently Professor of Jazz Composition at the “D. Cimarosa” Music Academy in Avellino. He is the founder and director of “Power Jazz Unusual Orchestra”.

Jodice has won several international competitions through his compositions and arrangements for jazz orchestra. He was awarded the “Positano Jazz Prize” for Best New Italian Talent in 2002.

The performance themed “Tango from Naples to Buenos Aires” will conclude the Italy-Vietnam 2012 programme. It is organised by the Italian Embassy in Hanoi in collaboration with Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
