CPV delegation attends Int’l seminar in India
(VOV) -A delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam led by the Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, Hoang Binh Quan has attended an international seminar on legacy of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru- the first late Indian Prime Minster in observation of his 125th birth anniversary.
The purpose of the seminar in New Delhi, India from November 17-18 was to honour the historic contributions of Prime Minister J. Nehru, who was considered an architect of the Indian democracy and the modern Indian State and a leader of global influence. He was also a co-founder of the Non-Aligned Movement with ideological foundations initiated by him, principally on freedom, peace, democracy, equality and altruism.
The seminar focused on the two main topics- comprehensive democracy and the participation of citizens and Nehru's worldview and a democratic international order in the 21st Century. The event ended with a statement covering main discussions and sending a global message.
On the occasion, the Vietnam delegation paid a courtesy visit to Indian National Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi and conveyed a letter of thanks and congratulations from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
For her part, Ms. Sonia extended her regards to Party Chief Nguyen Phu Trong and other Vietnamese leaders while expressing a desire to further strengthen the time-honoured friendship between the two parties and two peoples.
Vietnamese delegates also debated regional and global issues of shared concern with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the People’s Party (BJP) as well as seeking measures to enhance Party relations with those from the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the CPI-Marxist.
Those attending the event were delegations from 20 countries, 29 political parties and organizations along with many scholars, former heads and famous statesmen.
