US offers Vietnam tuberculosis equipment and drugs
VOV.VN - The US Agency for International Development (USAID) on February 16 presented a range of equipment and vital drugs costing US$3 million to the National Lung Hospital of Vietnam in order to support the country in its diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis.
The shipment comprises 38 rapid diagnostic machines, 90,000 compatible test kits and 10 digital X-ray devices.
The equipment is set to be transported to remote areas such as Lai Chau province in the north, Nghe An province in the centre, and An Giang and Dong Thap provinces in the south.
USAID also delivered a range of crucial drugs to treat 15,000 patients suffering from latent tuberculosis infection for three months. The drugs will be distributed to beneficiaries across the country.
The agency also plans to provide training and technical support to the national tuberculosis control programme, mostly for healthcare workers at the grassroots level.
