HCM City detects new SARS-CoV-2 case related to patient No. 1440

VOV.VN - A fresh case of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has been detected in Ho Chi Minh City, with the latest incident related to patient No. 1440, a young man from Vinh Long province who had recently illegally entered the country, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.

The department stated that the latest case of infection involved a 23-year-old Vietnamese national who resides in Su Van Hanh apartment in District 5 of Ho Chi Minh City.

The positive case comes after the individual had previous lived with patient No. 1440 in Myanmar, before entering the country illegally through various trails. Upon his detection in the nation, he was taken into quarantine and tested for the virus in District 5 on December 27 with the results later confirming that the patient had tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Currently, the patient is receiving treatment at Cu Chi Field Hospital in the southern city.

Following the discovery of a new case, local health workers on the morning of December 28 swiftly disinfected Su Van Hanh apartment, the residence of the latest patient and put the building in lockdown.

At present, relevant agencies have successfully traced people who have come into close contact with the patient and have taken them to quarantine facilities in line with the regulations.
