HCM City launches second phase of COVID-19 vaccination process

VOV.VN - The health sector of Ho Chi Minh City initiated the second phase of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination scheme on April 19 for medical workers and those who frequently come into contact with individuals entering the country through Tan Son Nhat International Airport as part of their job.

Nguyen Tan Binh, director of the municipal Health Department said that by April 30 a total of 45,190 doses are set to be given to medical personnel working at both public and private health establishments, along with hospitals of the Health Ministry. In addition to this, a further 2,000 doses will be injected into those working at the southern airport.

Furthermore, as many as 9,050 medical workers who already received their first shot during the initial phase of the vaccine rollout will also be getting their second jab.

As a means of ensuring safety, the department has requested that all inoculation locations make thorough preparations and devise plans aimed at co-operating with the closest hospitals in order to deal with any possible post-vaccination incidents which may occur.

According to the department, the municipal health sector employs more than 60,000 medical workers.
