VOV.VN - Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening the traditional friendship and all-round cooperation with Bulgaria and Hungary, said National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue during his separate meetings on May 31 with the ambassadors of Bulgaria and Hungary to Vietnam.

Receiving Bulgarian Ambassador Marinela Petkova, Hue reviewed major cooperation outcomes between the two countries, saying despite the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, bilateral trade rose 100% in 2021. The relations between the two legislative bodies were also strengthened, while both sides coordinated closely and supported each other at regional and international parliamentary forums.

He suggested that Vietnam and Bulgaria continue to promote their traditional friendship and cooperation through exchanges of delegations and people-to-people exchanges.

He hoped that the Ambassador would closely coordinate with relevant agencies of Vietnam to help deepen bilateral cooperative relations for mutual benefit during her working term in  the country.

Ambassador Petkova agreed with NA Chairman Hue and said that after two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the time for the two countries to promote cooperation in various fields.

She affirmed that Vietnam is now not only Bulgaria’s partner in Southeast Asia, but also in Asia.

Bulgaria wishes to expand the scope of cooperation with Vietnam in the context that the latter is an ASEAN member and the former is a member of the European Union (EU), she said.

She vowed to work hard during her working term to contribute to fostering the Vietnam – Bulgaria relations.

While receiving Hungarian Ambassador Ory Csaba, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said Vietnam wishes to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with Hungary - the first comprehensive partner of Vietnam among traditional friends in Central Eastern Europe.

Hue spoke highly of the positive development in the Vietnam-Hungary relations as evidenced by high-level meetings and contact. Particularly he said during Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s Hungary visit in 2018, the two sides lifted their relationship to the Comprehensive Partnership, demonstrating their resolve to expand bilateral cooperation.

For his part, Ambassador Ory Csaba highlighted the results of cooperation between the two legislative bodies of Hungary and Vietnam in recent times, in which he said the cooperation agreement between the two legislatures along with the organization of effective and practical talks between their bodies has contributed to increasing bilateral relations.

NA Chairman Hue shared the diplomat’s view that the cooperation agreement should be further implemented in accordance with the connotation and level of parliamentary cooperation in the current period, serving to bolster cooperation between the two legislatures.

He hoped that the Ambassador would closely coordinate with relevant Vietnamese ministries and agencies to implement measures to further deepen the Vietnam - Hungary Comprehensive Partnership during his working term in the country.
