Vietnamese citizens now tour Japan without travel restrictions
VOV.VN - After almost three years of disruption Japan is fully reopening its borders to foreign tourists and other arrivals as of October 11, providing a chance for many international travelers, including those from Vietnam, to tour Japan without restrictions.
Japan completely lifted its daily cap of 50,000 arrivals and recommenced visa-free independent travel for those arriving from any of the 68 countries previously placed on its short-term visa-exemption list.
However, travelers from nations which do not appear on the visa exemption list remain subject to the same pre-pandemic entry restrictions.
The move means that Vietnamese tourists can now travel to Japan either on a tour or independently without having to book through travel agencies.
Visitors entering Japan only need to have three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO) or have a negative test certificate if they have not received the required amount of vaccine doses.
Under the terms of the previous restrictions, travelers could only visit through travel agencies and apply for a visa. With the latest policy in place, the Japanese government hopes to galvanize its economy and boost the country’s post-pandemic recovery.
Japan welcomed approximately 450,000 Vietnamese arrivals in 2019 when COVID-19 did not break out worldwide. The first eight months of the year saw more than 160,000 Vietnamese citizens visiting the country of the rising sun, becoming the country with the largest number of tourists to Japan, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).
