Female Vietnamese racer competes at Motorsport Games in France

VOV.VN - Nguyen Gia Bao has become the first Vietnamese female racer to participate in the FIA Motorsport Games, with the 2022 version of the event underway at Circuit Paul Ricard in La Castellet of Marseille in France.

Accordingly, Bao, who is the first Vietnamese professional racer licensed by FIA, competed in the Auto Slalom category.

Auto Slalom is a race against the stopwatch through a series of low-to-medium speed corners at the famous French racetrack. Following this, the fastest competitors will then race against each other to earn gold, silver, or bronze medals for their nation in a discipline encouraging equality and diversity through compulsory female and male pairings.

This year saw FIA Motorsport Games attract the participation of a number of famous racers from 76 countries and territories globally.

According to the schedule, the tournament will last until October 31.

2018 saw Gia Bao honoured by being named among the Top 50 Typical Asia Pacific Women Leaders, with the female racer then opening the Vietnam Racing Academy (VRA) in 2020.

VRA's mission is to provide guidance and training in favour of professional racers together with organising competitions and races beneficial to Vietnamese Motorsports welfare. At present, VRA is now supported by Vietnam Motorsports Association (VMA), the only National Sporting Authority (ASN) of International Automobile Federation in Vietnam.
