Development cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia is growing well in various areas such as politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, investment, security, national defense, education and training and labour.

This view was shared by Chairman of the Vietnam-Malaysia Friendship Association, Le Thanh Tam, and Malaysian Consul General in HCM City Khairi Bin Omar at a meeting  on August 30 to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of Malaysia’s National Day ( August 31).

They said two-way trade turnover between the two countries has reached US$4 billion, and Malaysia is one of Vietnam’s leading investors in construction, electricity and water supply, gas exploitation, mechanical engineering and banking.

Mr Tam and Mr Omar also said high-level exchange visits by their top leaders have showed their determination to expand the fine neighbourly relations and mutually beneficial and equal cooperation towards building a peaceful, stable and prosperous Southeast Asia.

Mr Tam said he hopes Vietnam and Malaysia would continue to make still greater achievements to foster the bilateral friendship as well as the common development in the region.
