Two foreign men arrested for appropriating property
VOV.VN - Police operating in Hang Trong ward in Hanoi stated on March 18 that they have arrested two foreign citizens for stealing property.
The pair were identified as Abdul Aziz of Pakistan and Jahanbakhsh Ghiasi of Iran.
According to initial information of the arrest, the two suspects had been impersonating Interpol officers when they stopped a foreign tourist, named Mohammad Iftakhar Hossian Khan of Bangladesh, as he was strolling on Hang Thiec street.
Aziz and Ghiasi then showed their fake police ID card and asked Mohammad to give both his passport and wallet to them.
Upon noticing this suspicious act, Hang Trong ward’s police moved to arrest the two suspects.
Once under questioning at the police station, the two foreign citizens confessed to buying the fake police ID card in Bangkok in Thailand for a price of 500 Baht. They then used it to threaten foreign tourists and take their property.
Ghiasi also admitted that he and his accomplice had stolen VND10 million from an Indian traveler on Hang Gai street.
A further investigation into the case is now underway.
