FrieslandCampina Vietnam with Family Farm festival

The Dutch Lady brand of the dairy company FrieslandCampina Vietnam will hold a Family Farm festival from April 15 till 19 at Le Van Tam Park on Hai Ba Trung Street in Ho Chi Minh City ’s District 1.

At the festival, Vietnamese families will have the opportunity to experience the farm lives in the Netherlands and participate in a series of interesting activities to connect family members and enjoy a relaxing time together.

Farmers help farmers

If livestock raising is the pinnacle of the agriculture sector, Dutch farmers can proudly say that dairy farming is the pinnacle of their country’s livestock raising industry. Revenue from exporting dairy products accounts for 15% of the total export turnover of the Dutch agriculture sector.

As the production process in the dairy industry needs lots of labor, high-quality management, and synchronous service systems, it creates many opportunities to enhance cooperation among farmers. The farmer connecting model has been developed successfully in the Netherlands and duplicated in many countries where FrieslandCampina is present via the program called “Farmers help farmers”.

In Vietnam, the model allows Dutch farmers to help Vietnamese farmers gain access to advanced techniques to generate the largest amount of milk of top-notch quality. Exchanging experience with Dutch farmers will help shorten the gap between the dairy farming sector in Vietnam and other countries. Therefore, the model has made FrieslandCampina stand out in terms of hygiene and quality in the supply chain in Vietnam.

It is farmers who have a strong attachment to their farms and make significant contributions to turning out a high-quality source of fresh milk, which has in turn made FrieslandCampina a global brand with sustainable growth over the past 140 years. This explains why FrieslandCampina  has been ranked the fifth in the global list of companies producing and trading dairy products.

Building the health foundation, connecting family members

A new day of Herman Bakhuis, a 49-year-old farmer in Daarle near Almelo, an eastern city of the Netherlands, and his family starts when all members gather together at the 120-hectare farm which is home to 300 cows and 180 heifers.

The moment of working together kindles the passion of working on the cow farm for family members from generation to generation, helping all members understand the nutritional value of every drop of milk as well as the value of family union and the important role of health in daily lives.

The Bakhuis family is one of the typical families in the Netherlands that join the chain to supply high-quality fresh milk for FrieslandCampina as one of world’s leading dairy groups. Those families are also the first to spread the message “building the health foundation, connecting family members” of the company during the past 140 years.

Dutch farmers not only focus on breeding Holstein Friesian cows but also finding new methods of raising the quality of fresh milk. In the 18th century, when the definition of “dairy cow” still sounded unfamiliar in many countries, the Netherlands had milk factories with closed production processes with strict management of all processing steps: from buying input material, ensuring hygiene in the production process, to preserving and transporting finished products to consumer markets.
